Job Description:

The HVAC Service Technician will provide excellent customer service, perform residential and light commercial HVAC service work, and provide technical explanations to non-technical clients.

Job Duties and Requirements:

  • Ability to perform all HVAC repairs and replacements to code.
  • Must be capable of troubleshooting, diagnosing, repairing and explaining all problems and options to the client.
  • Must be capable of performing a thorough and accurate HVAC inspection and communicating findings to the client.
  • Ability to complete paperwork legibly.
  • Ability to communicate with dispatcher and call center personnel (eg. Debrief, email, etc).
  • Ability to perform calculations necessary for HVAC work as well as calculations necessary for invoicing purposes.
  • Must be comfortable asking for payment and collecting money and getting financing approved for clients.
  • Must comply with all safety standards and processes.
  • Ability to communicate the benefits of service agreements to the client.
  • Must be responsible to follow up on calls as needed.

Job Requirements:

  • Experience preferred not required.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have a valid drivers license.
  • Must be able to climb ladders and work in close spaces.
  • Must present a professional image by arriving on time, being neat and well groomed.
  • Must be authorized to work in the US.

Salary:

We have a four step pay scale, this allows us to pay employees based on there skills and there desire to learn new skills. The scale starts at entry level with a pay of $14.00 to $30.00 per hour plus incentive pay.

Education:

  • Learn hands on in our Golden Rule University training center and classroom. We will train you in our apprentice to junior tech and junior tech to senior tech programs. As well as helping you receive industry certifications like becoming a NATE accredited service tech.
  • Free 4 year education though ABC of Iowa apprenticeship program so you can become a Journeyman in your trade

Job Description

New Construction Apprentice is usually engaged in the practical aspects of installing HVAC equipment in residential and commercial areas. A New Construction/Retro-fit Installer is involved in every phase of the HVAC installation process and is therefore vital to the completion of the project.

The New Construction Apprentice has the primary responsibility of making sure all registers are installed in all new homes. This is an important position that requires attention to detail as this person is the last person from Heartland to be in the home. Everything must be top notch and complete.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Install registers, connect thermostats, make sure everything is operational.
  • Helping to install various commercial, residential and Industrial HVAC systems sometimes in confined or high places
  • Hang and seal all HVAC duct work/equipment level and with attention to detail and appearance
  • Work closely with all other workers and supervisors while maintaining a polite professional attitude
  • Arrive on time and ready to work with a positive attitude. Attend all meetings and training including a monthly 7 am meeting
  • Adhere to codes, OSHA standards and all safety and handbook policies. Including maintaining and organizing company vehicles and property in good working order
  • Heartland Heating & Cooling, LLC maintains a non-smoking work environment including shop, vehicles and all work locations

Education and Qualifications

  • Travel knowledge in and around the Des Moines area
  • High School Diploma
  • Valid Iowa Driver’s License

Physical Requirements

  • Must have the necessary physical stamina; to include, but not limited to, long-term overhead HVAC work
  • Must be able to lift overhead up to 25 lbs several times per week. If lifting more than 75 lbs-request assistance.
  • Must be able to work for extended hours or work days
  • Must be careful during work to avoid injury (squatting, bending, ladders and stair safety,etc.)
  • Must be able to work with powered construction tools (electric snips, sawzall, drills etc.)
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment physical and drug screen
  • Must be able to pass drug screen at any given time during employment
  • Clean and respectable appearance on job-site to include Heartland attire (t-shirt and/or sweatshirt)
  • Any and all injuries must be reported to the office as soon as possible-Employee Incident report should be completed and turned in to the office as soon as possible following the incident.
